Emergency crews are sifting through the wreckage of a nursing home in Bristol, Pennsylvania, after a powerful explosion on Christmas Eve killed two women and injured more than 20 others. The blast tore through the facility in the early morning hours, sending debris flying and causing extensive structural damage to the building.
First responders rushed to the scene after residents reported hearing a massive boom that shook the entire neighborhood. The two deceased victims were identified as residents of the facility who were in the area most affected by the explosion. Emergency medical teams transported the injured to area hospitals, where several remain in critical condition.
Fire officials and investigators are working to determine the cause of the explosion, with preliminary assessments focusing on potential gas-related issues.
