England defeated Croatia 7-0 in Rijeka on Saturday, October 3, with Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka scoring twice each. UEFA confirmed the result, while England Football said it was England’s biggest Nations League win and Croatia’s heaviest defeat.
Thomas Tuchel’s team led 4-0 at half-time. According to the official match report, Kane opened the scoring after eight minutes, Jude Bellingham added the second in the 21st, Anthony Gordon scored in the 39th and Saka struck in the 45th.
England kept attacking after the break. Kane scored again in the 53rd minute and Saka in the 68th, before substitute Morgan Rogers completed the scoring in the 87th. UEFA described a performance built on passing combinations, with Bellingham supplying Kane’s opener and Gordon heading in Jarell Quansah’s cross.
England Football’s statistical review credited Bellingham with one goal and three assists. It also said England had matched their record of nine consecutive away victories, previously achieved between December 1965 and October 1967. The result was their biggest win since another 7-0 victory, against North Macedonia in June 2023.
England remained second in Group A3 with six points, three behind Spain, who beat Czechia 3-1 on Saturday, according to UEFA’s results and El País. The victory was England’s second of this campaign, following a 2-0 win in Czechia after an opening 3-2 home defeat by Spain.
The official fixture list gives England a home match against Czechia at Wembley on Tuesday, October 6. That is their next chance to add points before November’s remaining group games. Despite the record score in Croatia, Spain’s perfect start means England still have ground to make up in the standings.
