The nationwide uprising against Irans religious dictatorship has reached its tenth day, with Tehrans Grand Bazaar becoming the epicenter of fierce resistance.
The movement, which began as an economic protest, has evolved into a full-scale political confrontation calling for the downfall of the regime. It represents the largest outbreak of unrest in Iran since the 2022-2023 protests following the death of Mahsa Amini.
Economic Crisis Triggers Unrest
The protests were sparked by rapidly worsening economic conditions. Inflation had surged to 48.6% in October 2025 and remained at 42.2% in December. The Iranian rial collapsed to a record low of 1.46 million to the US dollar.
Grand Bazaar Becomes War Zone
Witnesses described Tehrans Grand Bazaar as a "war zone" on Tuesday. The regime deployed massive resources to break the strike, including 20 buses of troops, plainclothes units, and water cannons.
Nationwide Scale
The protests have now spread to at least 110 cities across Iran, with activists abroad confirming 36 people killed during the uprising.
International Response
U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran that if Tehran "violently kills peaceful protesters," the United States "will come to their rescue." Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared that "rioters must be put in their place."
Cloudflare reported a 35% decrease in internet traffic in Iran as authorities attempt to suppress information flow.
