MH370 Search Resumes After 11 Years as Ocean Infinity Vessel Heads to Indian Ocean

The search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, which mysteriously vanished in March 2014 with 239 people on board, is set to resume on December 30, 2025. Ocean Infinity's specialized vessel, the Singapore-flagged Armada 86 05, has departed from Australia's west coast and is heading to the southern Indian Ocean to begin a 55-day underwater search mission.

Under a 'no find, no fee' arrangement with the Malaysian government, Ocean Infinity will search a new 15,000-square-kilometer area and receive $70 million only if wreckage is discovered. The 86-meter vessel serves as a launch platform for autonomous underwater vehicles equipped with advanced sonar mapping technology.

The Boeing 777 disappeared from radar shortly after taking off from Kuala Lumpur bound for Beijing, carrying mostly Chinese nationals. Satellite data later showed the plane turned from its flight path and headed south to the far-southern Indian Ocean. A previous search by Ocean Infinity in 2018 yielded no results, but improved underwater drone technology now offers renewed hope for the families seeking closure after more than a decade of uncertainty.
