Liam and Noel Gallagher brought the Oasis reunion story to the Venice Film Festival on Saturday, September 5, as a new documentary about their return to the stage received its world premiere. Reuters reported that the brothers arrived at the Lido by water taxi before the screening of Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger, marking a high-profile festival appearance for a band whose reconciliation became one of the biggest music events of 2025.
The film follows Oasis Live '25, the tour that reunited the Manchester group after a 15-year break driven by the brothers' famously volatile relationship. The tour crossed Britain, Ireland, North and South America, Asia and Australia. According to Sony Music, the production includes rehearsal, backstage and performance footage, along with the first joint interviews with Liam and Noel in more than two decades.
Directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace kept their crew largely unobtrusive during rehearsals, allowing the changing relationship to unfold without staging interactions, Reuters reported. Southern said the reconciliation gradually became visible onstage, while the documentary also shows an initially tense first rehearsal and later signs of warmth between the brothers and their families. The filmmakers expanded their focus in the stadiums to capture how audiences shaped the reunion.
Steven Knight, who created the documentary, described reconciliation, redemption and forgiveness as its central ideas. La Biennale lists the British production at 122 minutes, with Southern and Lovelace directing, Knight credited for the screenplay, Haris Zambarloukos as cinematographer and George Cragg and Martina Zamolo as editors. The festival presents it in the Venice Open section outside the main competition.
The premiere turns a commercially successful tour into a broader account of music, family conflict and shared memory. La Biennale says the film spans 12 concerts on three continents and combines a concert film with a study of the Gallaghers' difficult fraternal bond. Sony Music said Magna Studios produced the documentary and Sony Music Vision presents it in association with Sony Music Entertainment UK.
The film is scheduled for a limited IMAX and cinema engagement beginning in September, with dates varying by market, before streaming later in 2026. Sony Music lists September 11 for its announced theatrical rollout, while Disney UK lists September 9 in Britain and Ireland. International streaming is planned for Disney+, with Hulu and Disney+ carrying it in the United States, as the Venice festival continues through September 12.
