A man stabbed three women at three different Paris metro stations on December 27, 2025, before being arrested at his home later that evening. The attacks occurred between 4:15 PM and 4:45 PM on metro line 3, at the République, Arts et Métiers, and Opéra stations.
The three victims sustained light injuries and were treated by emergency services. One of the wounded women was pregnant. Police quickly identified the suspect using CCTV footage and mobile phone geolocation data.
The suspect, described as a Malian-born man born in 2000, was located in the Val d'Oise area north of Paris and arrested without complications. Prosecutors said he had prior encounters with police but have not disclosed his motive.
Police sources quoted by Le Parisien said a terrorist motive had been ruled out, with initial signs pointing to mental disturbance rather than coordinated extremism. France's Interior Minister Laurent Nunez praised police for quickly identifying and arresting the suspect. Metro Line 3 has resumed normal operations.
