Robbers stole around 30 million euros in cash and valuables during a break-in at the vault of a Sparkasse bank in Gelsenkirchen, in what police describe as one of the biggest heists in German criminal history.
Professional Execution
The thieves drilled through a concrete wall from an underground parking garage. Investigators suspect the gang spent the weekend inside, breaking open deposit boxes.
Scale of the Theft
Around 3,200 safe deposit boxes were ransacked, affecting more than 2,500 customers. A police spokesman likened the heist to 'Ocean's Eleven.'
