Tottenham Hotspur has signed Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City, completing one of the biggest moves of the English summer transfer window. Both Premier League clubs confirmed the permanent transfer, while British media reported an initial fee of £75 million with a further £10 million available in add-ons. The deal takes Tottenham's summer spending beyond £300 million under head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
The 22-year-old, who was also known as Savio during his time at City, will wear Tottenham's number 17 shirt. Spurs did not disclose the length of his contract or the financial terms. Reuters reported that the agreement followed Tottenham's narrow escape from relegation last season and forms part of a major effort to rebuild the squad for the 2026-27 campaign.
Manchester City said Savinho leaves after two seasons in which he made 84 appearances and scored seven goals. He joined City from fellow City Football Group club Troyes after an influential loan spell with Girona, then made his English debut in the 2024 Community Shield. His City record also included goals in the Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup and domestic league and cup competitions.
Sky Sports reported that Tottenham will pay £75 million up front and could add £10 million through bonuses, with £5 million of those potential payments regarded as effectively guaranteed. The outlet said the sale would set a Manchester City club record, exceeding the package associated with Julian Alvarez's 2024 move to Atletico Madrid. The clubs themselves did not publish a fee.
Savinho said through Tottenham that discussions with De Zerbi persuaded him to join and that he believed the coach could help him reach a higher level. De Zerbi described the Brazil international as a wide player who offers energy, imagination and the courage to take on defenders. The comments underline Tottenham's intention to add creativity and direct attacking play after an unstable previous season.
The winger joins a heavily reshaped Tottenham squad that has also added Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, according to Reuters and Sky Sports. His arrival gives De Zerbi another option across the forward line as the new Premier League season begins.
