Lollapalooza 2026 opened Thursday, July 30, in Grant Park in central Chicago, beginning four days of live music led by eight headliners from pop, rock and electronic music. Organizers scheduled more than 170 acts across eight stages through Sunday, August 2, making the festival one of the largest entertainment events on the North American summer calendar.
Lorde and electronic producer John Summit topped Thursday's program. The remaining headline slots pair Charli XCX with Chicago band the Smashing Pumpkins on Friday, British singer Olivia Dean with Jennie of Blackpink on Saturday, and Canadian pop singer Tate McRae with British group the xx on Sunday, according to the published daily schedule.
The wider bill spans several generations and styles. Live Nation's announcement identified Lil Uzi Vert, Turnstile, Sombr, the Neighbourhood, Yungblud, Beabadoobee, Ethel Cain, Empire of the Sun, Major Lazer and Zara Larsson among the performers. Pitchfork also listed Little Simz, Clipse, Muna, Blood Orange, Wet Leg and Freddie Gibbs, reflecting the festival's mix of mainstream stars and alternative acts.
This year's program gives women five of the eight headline positions, including Lorde, Charli XCX, Olivia Dean, Jennie and Tate McRae. It also combines internationally touring artists with a major hometown booking for the Smashing Pumpkins, the alternative-rock band formed in Chicago. The structure places contrasting genres on separate stages and gives audiences multiple simultaneous choices throughout each day.
Time Out Chicago reported that four-day general admission started at $399, while premium packages rose substantially higher. The publication also described a new Northside Suites option with an air-conditioned private area, rooftop viewing space, food and drinks. Those additions show how the event is expanding premium hospitality alongside its large general-admission audience.
The 2026 edition follows a 2025 festival whose headliners included Olivia Rodrigo, Tyler, the Creator, Sabrina Carpenter, A$AP Rocky, Korn and Doechii. With this year's event now under way, attention shifts to the remaining three days and the delivery of the published schedule. Organizers plan to conclude the Chicago festival on Sunday night in Grant Park.
