Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 at Spotify Camp Nou on October 25, with Kylian Mbappé scoring both goals to cut the gap to the LaLiga leaders to three points. LaLiga confirmed the result, while Barcelona said the defeat ended its run of nine wins from nine league matches.
The first Clásico of the season denied Hansi Flick’s side a tenth straight league victory. Barcelona’s match report noted that a home win would have extended its advantage over Madrid to nine points. Instead, José Mourinho’s team reduced the six-point deficit it carried into the game.
LaLiga recorded Mbappé’s opener in the 41st minute and Raphinha’s equaliser in the 61st. Sky Sports reported that Gerard Martín’s attempted clearance struck Mbappé for the first goal. After the break, Pedri supplied Raphinha, whose shot beat Andriy Lunin to bring Barcelona level.
The decisive goal came in the 87th minute, according to LaLiga’s match record. Sky Sports described Jude Bellingham’s role in launching the move before Eduardo Camavinga supplied the pass for Mbappé to finish. Lunin had earlier kept Madrid level by saving a Martín header as Barcelona pushed forward.
Real Madrid said the double took Mbappé to 100 goals in 116 appearances for the club. Its breakdown lists 67 league goals and 25 in the Champions League, with the rest spread across four other competitions. The club said he has scored 14 times this season, after 44 goals in his first campaign and 42 in his second.
Barcelona remains ahead of Madrid despite the setback. Sky Sports reported that Atlético Madrid sits second, two points behind the leader, so the Clásico result leaves three clubs separated by three points. The next league matches will therefore unfold with Barcelona’s perfect start over and both Madrid clubs within reach.
