Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić has achieved yet another historic milestone, recording his 35th triple-double of the calendar year 2024, breaking his own NBA record for most triple-doubles in a single calendar year.
The three-time NBA MVP accomplished the feat against the Phoenix Suns, finishing with 27 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists. This performance cements his status as arguably the most complete player in basketball today.
Jokić previously held the record with 32 triple-doubles in 2023, a mark he surpassed earlier this month. The Serbian big man has now accumulated 145 career triple-doubles, placing him fourth on the all-time list behind Oscar Robertson (181), Russell Westbrook (199), and Magic Johnson (138) whom he has already passed.
"I don't really think about records," Jokić said in his typically understated manner. "I just try to play the right way and help my team win." His teammate Jamal Murray praised the achievement: "What he does every night is unbelievable. We're witnessing something special."
The Nuggets, defending their 2023 championship, remain in strong playoff position in the competitive Western Conference. Jokić's historic season has him as the frontrunner for his fourth MVP award, which would tie him with LeBron James and make history.
